Zero The Hero

Zero the Hero likes to climb

in the trees.

Zero the Hero visits our boys and girls on the school days ending in zero. We count each day we come to school. Zero visits us on the 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th, 70th, 80th, 90th, 100th day and so on until the end of the school year.  Zero really gets excited about the 100th day of school as we have a daylong celebration. He will continue to visit our classroom on other zero days. He visits our room delivering special zero treats and we sing his special song. Here's our song we sing for Zero The Hero when he comes:

Zero The Hero
Tune of: She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain

When you see a zero on the number line,
Better watch out for a signal or a sign.
From our friendly super hero,
Who loves the number zero.
Oh, he always comes to visit right on time.
ZERO THE HERO!! (shout)

Zero The Hero Poem

(We wrote together)

Here comes our hero,

When we see zero.

We don’t slumber,

We watch our numbers.

He’s our friend,

Even on the end.

We love Zero,

He’s our hero.

I’m A Little Penguin

(tune:  “I’m A Little Teapot”)

<We sing this penguin song during our penguin unit.>

I’m a little penguin

Look at me.

Fishing and swimming

In the deep, blue sea.

My wings are black

And my tail is white.

And I like sliding

Down the snow so bright!

Up On the Iceberg

(tune:  “Up On The Housetop”)

<We sing this song during our penguin unit.>

Into the ocean, penguins go

They spy the seals way down below.

Zip through the water everyday

Zigzagging penguins swim away.

Oh, oh, oh! Go penguins, go! (shout out)

Oh, oh, oh! Go penguins, go! (shout out)

Leap to the iceberg, quick, quick, quick!

Back to the iceberg to find your chick.

Five Little Penguins

(poem)

Five little penguins sitting on the ice.

The first one said, “Oh I feel nice.”

The second one said, “I see a chick.”

The third one said, “Run away, quick.”

The fourth one said, “Let’s go for a swim.”

The fifth one said, “Now we all dive in.”

So they dove in the water, and all swam about.

Then the five little penguins, all jumped out.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors

through him that loved us.
