Show and Tell  is an important part of our first grade program.  We have selected certain themes for each month.  This alternate way of doing Show and Tell encourages creativity and critical thinking as it reinforces language arts.

     We will have Show and Tell on Fridays at 12:30.  If your child chooses not to be a part or sometimes forgets, this is his/her choice.  The theme for each month is:

September

     Your child may share any item from home that he/she wishes to share with others.

October

     We will send home a sheet prior to Friday for your child to draw the following picture.

     1st Fri.-Draw a picture of yourself.

     2nd Fri.-Draw a picture of your family.

     3rd Fri.-Draw a picture of your home and put the address on the paper.

     4th Fri.-Draw a picture of your friends and print their name beside each one.

     We will put these pictures together in a booket and bring home.

November

     Bring any object, drawing, or picture from a magazine of the following sounds:

     1st. Fri.-short vowel sounds (a,e,i,o,u)

     2nd Fri.-long vowel sounds (a,e,i,o,u)

     3rd Fri.-sh or th sound

     4th Fri.-wh or ch sound

December

     We will read a book from the classroom to a different grade each Friday.

 

January

      1st Fri.-The children may being a Christmas present that they received and share with the class. 

     2nd,3rd, & 4th Fri.-Your child may bring a favorite game from home and play it with his/her classmates.

February

     1st Fri.-Your child may bring any item that is red, white or blue.

     2nd, 3rd, & 4th Fri.-Your child may bring any item from home to share.

March

 

     Read a book at home and bring it to school and share the author, illustrator, and your favorite part.

April

     Write a story at home and bring it to class to read.  If you wrote about a certain item, you may bring that item also.

May

     We will do creative writing stories in class and share with the other 1st grade room.
