We
will study all about ocean life in science class. Your child is welcome to bring in any seashells or books about
ocean life that he/she might like to share with his classmates. We will do many ocean art projects and build
a large aquarium filled with ocean life.
And God called
the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he seas: and God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:10

Fall is such a beautiful time of the
year. God’s beauty is everywhere to
behold. The children have a family
project to do at home. I am asking each
child to collect at least 10 different leaves.
These leaves should be pressed between books so they do not curl. The leaves should be glued on heavy paper or
tag board and covered with contact paper or laminated. I encourage the children to label the names
of the leaves themselves and put the project name on also. If your child would like to do this project in
a book form or any other creative way, that is just great.
You
can go out together, collect leaves and talk about the beauty and wonderful
world the LORD has made for us. The
project may be brought to class any time during the month of October. Have fun together!!!!!!!
And
God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding
seed,
and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind. Genesis 1:11

God has made us
beautiful in his sight. We thank the
Lord for our 5 senses. I am asking each
child to bring into class 5 different objects that show each of the 5 senses. Sometimes for the sense of taste it’s fun to
bring in something for each of the children to sample. Please send all 5 senses at the same time in
a bag. We will play lots of fun games
learning about our senses. The five
senses are:
I
will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. Psalm 32:8

It’s great fun to
experiment with magnets and see all the various things magnets can do. If you happen to have any magnets at home, I
would appreciate if you would let your child share them with the class. A compass is a good example of a
magnet. This is one of the favorite
science units as the children get to do a lot of experimenting and making
various magnets themselves.
Some of the questions we will be discussing will be:
1.
What things will stick to magnets?
2.
Can a magnet work through things?
3.
What are the different kinds of magnets?
4.
How do people use magnets in their work?
5.
What is the right way to use a compass?
6.
How can you make your own magnet?
7.
How can you make an electromagnet?
Thou art my hiding
place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about
with songs of deliverence. Psalm 32:7

Praise ye him,
sun and moon; praise him, all ye stars
of light. Psalm 148:1
I
am asking each child to research 5 different constellations and draw the main
stars on black construction paper. (I
will send the black construction paper home.)
Poke a hole in the main stars, hold the paper up to the light and view
the constellations. Please bring the
project to school this month and share with your child’s fellow stargazers.

We
are celebrating the month of February as “Bear Month.” We will do a lot of research on the
different kinds of bears. The children
may bring any stuffed bears that they have at home and put on our bear shelf. They may leave their bears at school for the
month if they wish. Please put your
child’s name on each bear with masking tape.
Each
child will be bringing Buddy Bear, Buddy’s overnight bag and bear
journal home to record the fun activities that your child does with Buddy. Please return Buddy the next day.
We
will do research on the computer to get information about the various bears so
we can present reports filled with pertinent information. We will lots of creative writing stories and
read numerous books. I have over 100
bear books!!!! We are planning on
having a “beary good month.”
For
every man shall bear his own burden.

Your child should pick a particular animal and share any
information in the form of a report on that animal. Check out all the web sites on animals. Your child can bring pictures, books, draw pictures, or write a
creative writing story about that animal.
This animal report will be done in front of the class and needs to be
presented in written form. This is a fun
and learning experience research project for our unit on animals.
And God made
the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their
kind, and everything that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and
God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:25

We have 2 science
units going on in April. The 1st unit
of study is for your child to present a science experiment in class. This experiment can pertain to any field in
science. Have your child let me know
the day before he/she wishes to do it.
You are welcome to come in and do it with your child if you wish. You must provide all the supplies for the
experiment. This is an excellent way to
enjoy science and a great way to remember science concepts.
Your child will also
do 2 other science experiments at school.
The first one is:
Design any type of
paper airplane at home and bring to school.
We will fly it over the gym balcony and see whose goes further. A note will go home letting you know the
time and date of our paper airplane contest.
Drop
The Egg
Your child will
enclose an uncooked egg in any type of container and he/she will drop the
container from the gym balcony and see if it doesn’t break. Your child can use his imagination to come
up with some great ideas to keep his egg from breaking in the fall. Each egg will be removed from the container
to see if it survived the crash landing!!!!
Recycling
The 2nd
unit of study is on recycling. We are
collecting plastic items. You may send
any plastic item with the triangle number code on it. We put them in their various numbered categories and study what
each number stands for and how we can do our part to keep God’s beautiful earth
neat and clean.
The earth
is the Lord’s and the fullness therof; the world, and they that dwell
therein. Psalm 24:1

I am asking
each student to bring in 5 various insects to share with the class. They can be alive or mounted on tag
board. and can be any insect from a fly
to a bee. Have a fun time outside
enjoying all that God has made and created for us to enjoy.
We are also
studying all about birds. It is such a
blessing to listen to the songbirds sing as they are welcoming spring. We are charting all the various birds we
see.
And
the Lord said unto Moses, “Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt for
the locust, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt. Exodus 10:12
Look at the birds of the air, for they
neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds
them. Are you not of more value than
they? Matthew 6:26

O Give Thanks Unto The Lord
O give thanks unto the Lord;
for he is good: for his mercy endureth
forever.
O
give thanks unto the God of gods; for his mercy endureth forever.
O
give thanks unto the Lord of lords: for
his mercy endureth forever.
To
him who alone doeth great wonders: for
his mercy endureth forever.
To
him that by wisdom made the heavens:
for his mercy endureth forever.
To
him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for his mercy endureth forever.
To
him that made great lights, for his mercy endureth forever.
The
sun to rule by day: for his mercy
endureth forever.
The
moon and stars to rule by night: for
his mercy endureth forever.
