Butterfly

Butterfly, butterfly, flutter around.

Butterfly, butterfly, touch the ground.
Butterfly butterfly, fly so free.

Butterfly, butterfly, land on me!

Butterfly, butterfly reach the sky.

Butterfly, butterfly say, “Good-bye”!

A Little Seed

A little seed, for me to sow…

A little earth to make it grow….

A little hole, a little pat,

A little wish, and that is that.

A little sun, a little shower…

A little while, and then a flower!

Out In The Garden

Tune:  Down By the Station

Out in the garden, early in the morning,

See the red tomatoes all in a row.

See the happy farmer coming out to pick them.

Pick, pick, pick, pick, off he goes!

(substitute other vegetables)

Dig A Little Hole

Dig a little hole,

Plant a little seed,

Pour a little water,

Pull a little weed,

Chase a little bug,

Heigh-ho, there he goes!

Give a little sunshine.

Grow a little rose.

Here is the egg, small and round
On a leaf above the ground.
Here is the caterpillar, watch it eat
Lots of leaves, juicy and sweet.
Here is the chrysalis, small and thin;
The changing pupa sleeps within.
Here is the butterfly, fluttering away;
Time to celebrate its happy birthday.

Little Butterfly
Sung to: "I'm A Little Teapot

I'm a little butterfly
I have wings
I fly around
And see all things.
When I see a flower
That looks great
I call out
To all of my mates

Tiny Caterpillar
Tune: “She'll Be Coming ‘Round The Mountain”
There's a tiny caterpillar on a leaf,
wriggle, wriggle!
There's a tiny caterpillar on a leaf,
wriggle, wriggle!
There's a tiny caterpillar, a tiny caterpillar
There's a tiny caterpillar on a leaf,
wriggle, wriggle!

Additional Verses:
There's a hungry caterpillar on a leaf,

 munch, munch!
There's a shiny chrysalis on a leaf,

 shh, shh!
There's a lovely butterfly flying high,

flutter, flutter!

Beautiful Butterfly
Tune: "Up on the House Top"

First comes a butterfly that lays an egg.
Out comes a caterpillar with many legs.
Oh, see the caterpillar spin and spin,
A chrysalis to sleep in.

Oh, oh, oh, look and see
Oh, oh, oh, look and see
Out of the chrysalis... my, oh, my
Out comes a beautiful butterfly
!

Out In The Garden

Tune: Down By The Station

Out in the garden, early in the morning,

See the red tomatoes all in a row,

See the happy farmer coming out to pick them,

Pick, pick, pick, pick, off he goes!

Ladybug

Tune:  This Old Man

Ladybug, show your spots,

You have red wings and black dots,

We count those seven dots,

On your shiny shell,

Ladybug, your spots are swell

The Spider In The Web

Tune:  The Farmer in The Dell

The spider in the web,

The spider in the web.

Spin, spin, oh watch him spin,

The spider in the web.

The spider eats a (bug name)

The spider eats a_______.

Spin, spin, oh watch him spin,

The spider in the web.

The Eensy Weensy Spider

The eensy weensy spider,

Went up the water spout

Out came the rain,

And washed the spider out.

Out came the sun,

And dried up all the rain.

And the eensy weensy spider,

Went up the spout again.

Sunny Sunflower
Sunflowers all different sizes
Line the garden wall.
Some are short and cheery
Others strong and tall.
Starting as a tiny seed
Growing quickly like a weed.
Whatever size they are, you see,
Each is special
Just like me!
-Katherine McMahon

Cinco de Mayo
Cinco de Mayo,
the fifth of May
in Mexico is
a holiday.

Fiestas, parades,
that's what you do-
food, music
and dancing, too.

Defeating the French
they celebrate.
Cinco de Mayo
a festive date.
-Elizabeth N. Giles

Mother's Day
Mother's Day, I reached behind
Some books upon a shelf.
And gave my Mom a little card
That I had made myself.
She smiled and hugged me very close
And said, "Oh, thank you, honey."
And then her eyes got full of tears
Now doesn't that seem funny?
-Margaret Hillert

Appreciation

Appreciation on this day

Is due to every mother.

Of all the family you know

She does more than any other.

I Love You Mother

I love you Mother,

I truly do.

These tulips bring,

My love to you.

You’re In My Heart

Here is a picture you can treasure.

Teaching you has been a pleasure

The year now ends, and we must part

Always know you are in my heart.

School
When school lets out in June, I feel
As happy as can be,
I hop and skip and jump and run
And shout and laugh with glee.
I'm sure that I will never want
To go to school again
But when September comes around
I always like to then.
-Iva Riebel Judy

Closing Day Thought
I wonder if our schoolbooks
are lonely all the day
While through the long vacation
in cupboards put away?

I wonder if the blackboard
seems rather out of place
Without a single piece of chalk
to mark upon its face?

I wonder if the schoolroom
is sometimes lonely, too
While standing bare and empty
without a thing to do?

But this we can assure them.
When summer days all flee
We'll join them in September
and keep them company.
-Leland B. Jacobs

Good-Bye

Just a closing note to say,

I have enjoyed your child in school each day.

A child is a gift in his own special way,

With a frown, a smile, or an attractive display.

It has been a pleasure the year through,

To work together while your youngster grew.

You’re Special

You’re a very special person, and

You should know.

How I loved to be your teacher,

How fast the year did go.

Please take the time to think of me,

As through the years you grow.

Try hard to learn all you can,

There is so much to know.

The one thing I tried to teach you

To last your whole life through,

To know you are special,

And I’ll always love you!

Busy Bees

As you "buzz" around this summer,
Be as helpful as you can,
For helping others cheerfully
Is the best vacation plan!

The Picnic
We brought a rug for sittin' on,
Our lunch was in a box.
The sand was warm. We didn't wear
Hats or shoes or socks.

Waves came curling up the beach
We waded. It was fun.
Our sandwiches were different kinds
I dropped my jelly one.
-Dorothy Aldis

Picnics
Sunshine and wieners and pickles and ham,
Not enough salt for the eggs,
Marshmallows cooked on the end of a stick,
Ants crawling over our legs.

Candy and cookies and peanuts and cake,
Finding the frosting has run,
All of us knowing we've eaten too much-
Picnics are certainly fun!
-Marchette Chute

June
The day is warm
and a breeze is blowing,
the sky is blue
and it's eye is glowing,
and everything's new
and green and growing...
My shoes are off

and my socks are showing...
My socks are off...
do you know how I'm going?
BAREFOOT!
-Aileen Fisher
