I LOVE YOU

I love you

A bushel and a peck

A bushel and a peck

And a hug around the neck

I love you!

TO MY VALENTINE

If apples were pears
And peaches were plums,
And if the rose had a different name-
If tigers were bears,
And fingers were thumbs,
I'd love you just the same!

-ANONYMOUS

Valentine

There's nothing like a valentine,
To make a smile appear,
A heart-shaped card filled with kind words,
Sent from someone who's dear.
A friend or even a relative,
Who takes the time to say,
I like you just because you're you.
That's what is done this day.
-Martin Shaw

The Friendship Circle

(Tune:  The Mulberry Bush)

Here we go round the friendship circle,

The friendship circle,

The friendship circle.

Here we go round the friendship circle,

With our friends today

Make New Friends

Make new friends

But keep the old

One is silver

And the other's gold

A circle is round,

It has no end

That's how long

I want to be your friend.

Brush, Brush, Brush Your Teeth

Tune:Row, Row, Row Your Boat
Brush, brush, brush your teeth
Brush three times each day
Brushing up and down and all around
Keeps cavities away!

I lost a tooth but I don't care
Another one is growing there!

Good Morning

Say, "Good Morning" to your neighbor

Say, "Good Morning" across the way.

Say, "Good Morning" to (teacher's name).

And wish them all a "Happy Day."

IS A LOT!

100 dogs, 100 cats,
100 heads for 100 hats.
100 women, 100 men.
100's more than 5 or 10.
100 buttons, 100 coats,
100 sails for 100 boats.
100 cookies, 100 cakes,
100 kids with bellyaches!
100 shoes, 100 socks,
100 keys for 100 locks.
100 puddles mighty dirty,
100's even more than thirty!
100 daughters, 100 sons,
100 franks on 100 buns.
100 trees, 100 plants,
100 picnics, 100 ants.
100 is a lot to count,
100 is a LARGE AMOUNT!
100 kisses, hugs,
100 bats and 100 bugs.
100 bees, 100 birds,
This poem has 100 words!

ANIMALS

I went to the zoo
And what did I see?
100 animals looking at me.
There were...

Ten tall giraffes eating from the trees,
Ten silly monkeys scratching their knees.
Ten sleeping snakes lying in the sun,
Ten munching elephants eating peanuts one by one.
Ten leaping tigers performing in the shows,
Ten pink flamingos standing on their toes.
Ten grouchy bears trying to get some sleep,
Ten happy hippos in the water so deep.
Ten roaring lions walking two by two
And ten galloping zebras, all living in the zoo.

Here's a Little Groundhog

(Tune: I'm a Little Teapot)

Here's a little groundhog, furry and brown,
He's popping up to look around.
If he sees his shadow, down he'll go.
Then six more weeks of winter - Oh No!!

Mr. Groundhog

(Tune: London Bridges)

Mr. Groundhog down below,
Pop up through the fluffy snow,
See his shadow watch him go,
Winter's here to stay.

Mr. Groundhog down below,
Pops up through the fluffy snow,
Wide awake he wants to play,
Spring is on its way.

The Groundhog

The funny little groundhog
Digs a home in the fall,
And hides there all winter
Rolled up in a ball.
On February 2nd
He comes out of there
To look at the sky
And to sniff the air.

Groundhog's Day
Sung to: "Mary Had a Little Lamb"

Do you see your shadow,
Shadow, shadow?
Do you see your shadow?
On Groundhog's Day.
Yes, I see my shadow,
Shadow, shadow,
Yes, I see my shadow
On Groundhog's Day.

Abraham Lincoln

A great man you ought to know,

Lived a long, long time ago.

Abraham Lincoln the President,

Gave freedom to each resident.

He made the world a better place,

For you and all the human race!

George Washington

Everybody knows the story of the cherry tree-His father asked, “Who cut this down?” And young George answered, “Me!”  There are a lot of other things George Washington did do:  Like making maps, and farming, and he was a soldier, too!  He was our country’s president, the very first we had.  We will always remember George Washington, as he made our hearts so glad.

Four Food Groups

There are 4 food groups

That we should know.

Meat, fish, poultry,

Milk products,

Fruits and vegetables,

Breads and cereals,

They all make us grow!

Get In Line

Tune:  London Bridge

Everybody get in line,

Get in line,

Get in line,

Everybody get in line,

It’s lunchtime!

Pizza

Pizza, pizza, 1,2,3

Pizza is the thing for me!

Onion, bacon, sauce or cheese,

Mushrooms, peppers, if you please.

Plain or fancy,

Round or square.

I’d eat pizza ANYWHERE!!!!

Ravioli

Tune: Alouette

Ravioli, I like ravioli!

Ravioli, it’s the stuff for me!

Do you have it on your sleeve?

Yes, I have it on my sleeve.

On your sleeve?

On my sleeve.

Oh, ravioli, I like ravioli

Ravioli-it’s the stuff for me.

Idea:  substitute ravioli with other foods.

Bears

The bear went over the mountain.(repeat 3x)

To see what he could see.

The other side of the mountain.(repeat 3x)

Was all that he could see.

Brown Bear Brown Bear

By Bill Martin Jr.

This is great book for a re-write.

Instead of animal names, insert student

names.  We take digital pictures of each

student and put on each page.

We bind together in a book

and they love to read it.
