Planet Project

We studied the planets and constellations in science class and made a Planet Booklet with our parents during our Parent Planet Project center time.  We used a variety of art media and designed each planet on how we felt it looked.  It was a great learning experience with our parents.  Putting science and art together is great fun.

Our Solar System

The sun is a star.  It is a ball of hot

gases.  It is 93 million miles away

from Earth. The planets orbit

around the sun.

The Sun

Mercury is  very hot and is close  to

the sun.  Mercury goes around the

sun in 88 days. (No moons)

Mercury

Venus is about the same size as Earth.

sometimes we can see Venus at night

just after the sun has set. (No moons)

Venus

Earth has land, air, food and water.

God put us on the beautiful earth.

We are 93 million miles from the

sun. (1 moon)

Earth

Mars is red and stormy.  It has

craters, canyons and deserts on it.

Jupiter is the largest planet.  All

the other planets could fit inside

Jupiter. (16 moons)

Jupiter

Saturn is the 2nd largest planet.

Saturn has thousands of rings of

ice that go around it. (24 moons)

Saturn

Uranus has vertical rings and it takes

84 years to go around the sun.

Neptune is blue and has the strongest

winds on it. (11 moons)
