December
has been a busy and wonderful month for all of us. The true meaning of
Christmas is celebrating our Savior’s birth and presenting this glorious
message to others. The children
presented their Christmas program and they did such a nice job in their
singing. I am so proud of them.

We
so enjoyed making all the ornaments for our homemade Christmas tree. We made many different ornaments and
topped our tree off with a beautiful angel.
We
read the fantastic books, “The Miracle of Jonathan Toomey” and the “The Candy
Cane” to the children. They present
the Christmas story in such a great way.
If you don’t have these books, you might think of getting them for
your child. We read numerous books
with the Christmas theme of sharing and giving and books on the true meaning
of Christmas----the birth of our Lord and Savior.
The
children were very excited to make Christmas gifts for their parents. The gift I like the best is the children’s
creative writing story of the “The First Christmas”. It is so much fun to see their creative
writing and I know you parents will treasure these stories in years to
come.

Show
and Tell is different each month.
During the month of December we read to our friends in Mrs.
Lundquist’s first grade class. The
children brought a book from home or chose one from the class. We have such excellent readers and it is
rewarding to read to others. We say
we read “Like the Wind” and some read so fluently that they might get
a “Speeding Ticket” for fast reading.
We did our Burger King Reading in class and I sent home each child’s
reading coupon.
We
finished up with Phonics’ Chart #7 and had our test over it. Way to go boys and girls. You did a great job on it. We are now on Phonics’ Chart #8. Each chart seems hard at first and then
after a little practice we just flow through it. It certainly helps us with our spelling.

Science
was super fun and we had lots of activities to do with magnets. The children were always at the magnet
table exploring and experimenting with the magnets.
We
are adding and subtracting to 9 now.
Subtracting seems to be a little more difficult for us. Keep practicing for quick recall of the
math facts. We are also working on clocks, digit placement, story problems, odd
and even number counting, coins and numbers past 100.
Congratulations
to Caleb for being our Dec. Star Student of the Month.
We
were so blessed to go to Children’s Inn and bring gifts to share with the children
there. We enjoyed our video tour and
seeing the vision that Children’s Inn has in helping others.
Our
Bible verses and Bible lessons centered on the birth of Jesus during the
month of December. “Glory to God
in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Luke 2:14.
In Christ,
Mrs. Hayes
