Gingerbread Day in First Grade

We decided to have a gingerbread day in first grade.  We read a gingerbread boy book, did a reader’s theater play about the gingerbread boy, made gingerbread character puppets, went on gingerbread boy hunt, decorated gingerbread boy cookies and finally ate the gingerbread boy.

He was made to be eaten and was delicious!!!!!

Mrs. Hayes said, “Our gingerbread boy has run away and we must

look through the school for him. “

We first stopped off in Miss

Dulka’s kindergarten class.  She said, “He had gone to the office.”

Julie was so surprised to see the gingerbread boy run past her and into Dr. Fordyce’s office.

Dr. Fordyce said, “The gingerbread boy had just left for the computer room.”

Mrs. Toole saw him on one of the computers and then he ran off to see Kay in the kitchen.

Miss Kay tried to grab him and he got away and ran back to our

first grade room.

We saw him run into the room. He hopped up on Mrs. Hayes’ chair.

He ran over to the magnet table and didn’t know north from south.

We spotted him hiding in the Christmas books.  He is fast!!!!

He thought he was an angel and would trick us. No way!!!

Here he is on the map trying to blend in with South Dakota.

He is trying to be a famous author like Max Lucado.

He is looking for Christmas with the bear family. Do you see him?

We found him hiding in the Christmas tree.

He thought he was a postcard from our internet school friends

He better stay off Noah’s Ark or he might get eaten.

I guess he wants to learn to read and have a reading partner

He jumped on the calendar, but we spotted him on the 14th.

We finally caught him after chasing him around the room.

We decided to decorate him before he got away again.

We presented reader’s theater to Mrs. Lundquist’s class.
